Billy Lawson, 83 of Springfield, departed this earthly life and joined the Heavenly Kingdom on May 23, 2022.

During one of his trips, he met a good friend, Kenneth Zeornes who brought him on vacation to small-town Lebanon MO, on this vacation he met the love of his life, Debra Harris. Debra’s children Brian and Amber were raised with the help of Billy. Soon after they would have children together William and Sabrina. Billy retired in early 2000s and spent his time outdoors soaking up the sun or under an old shade tree.

He is survived by his wife Debra of Strafford, MO, 2 sons, Gregory Lawson of Lenox Georgia, William Lawson of Springfield Missouri and daughters Amber Brown of Lebanon MO and Sabrina Smart and son in law Jeremiah Edwards of Springfield MO, his grandchildren Gregory Lawson II, Andrew Lawson, Katrishia Lawson Yancey all of Lenox Georgia, Austin Leochner of Springfield MO, Trentin Smart of Lebanon MO, Ashlynn Leochner of Lebanon MO and Jaden Edwards of Springfield MO. 2 brothers Mark and Gene Lawson of GA and a sister Peggy Lawson Moss of GA as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandkids, family and friends. In his 83 years on this earth, he made a mark on every person he met and encouraged everyone to always make each day better than yesterday. He is loved and will be missed by everyone.

Billy will be cremated under the direction of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home Ltd., DeGraffenreid Wood Crematory, no formal services are planned.
