Mary Ruth (Danny) McCory, 97 of Springfield, left this world and went to her heavenly Father on April 7, 2022.

After graduating from Paris High School, she started working for the Federal Government. Her job as a disbursement officer brought her to Honolulu, Hawaii and was later transferred to the Fort Worth Army Depot. There she met and married Colonel John McCory. John was from Springfield, Missouri where they, along with Danny’s two sons, settled. Danny was an accomplished seamstress, gourmet cook, flower gardener and an avid Rummikub player.

She is survived by her son, Bart Newton (Rosa); Bart’s two step-daughters, Cecilia Steinberg (Adam) and their children Will, Kate and Sam and Angela Teters and her daughter, Grace Geisler and Grace’s father, David Geisler.

Memorial Service will be held at King’s Way United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 12:00 PM. Danny will be laid to rest next to her husband, John, during a private ceremony. Services are being coordinated by the Gorman Scharpf Funeral Homes.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to King’s Way United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice.
