Police are searching for a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident in east Springfield.

Springfield Police Department officers responded to a crash at 3:35 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at Cherry and Oak Grove streets.

A Jeep Commander, driven by Bryan Hasler, 44, of Springfield, was attempting to pass a silver sedan, according to a report from police. The sedan hit Hasler’s vehicle, causing the Jeep to leave the road and hit a pole.

Hasler was transported to a hospital, where he died from his injuries. The crash marked the year’s eighth fatal traffic accident in Springfield.

The make and model of the sedan are unknown, according to police, and the crash remains under investigation. People with information about the crash are asked to call (417) 864-1810.
