A Christian County man was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for one count of receipt and distribution of child sexual abuse materials.

Eduard Igorevich Fedchuk, 26, pleaded guilty to the charge in September of 2023 and was sentenced in Judge Roseann A. Ketchmark’s courtroom in Springfield on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

According to online court documents, Ketchmark also ordered Fedchuk to pay $26,000 in restitution and to serve another 10 years of supervised release once his prison sentence is complete. Ketchmark recommend Fedchuk be sent to a federal prison that offers a sex offender treatment program.

In the plea agreement, Fedchuk admitted he had viewed and sent child sexual abuse materials to other Kik users. Kik is a free messenger app that allows for anonymity and is often used to distribute child sexual abuse materials.

Fedchuk admitted he sent out about 100 videos and received approximately 1,000 videos of child sexual abuse, including some depicting bestiality.

Investigators found chat threads in which Fedchuk was sharing, requesting and discussing child pornography with other users. In at least one chat, Fedchuk wrote that he knew how old the minor depicted in the video was because he got the video directly from the child. That child has not been identified, the federal prosecutor wrote in the sentencing memorandum.
