Starting at 9 a.m. Thursday, a portion of Grant Avenue will close for about three months as construction begins on the Grant Avenue Parkway corridor improvement project.

Grant Avenue will be closed from Ildereen Street to Meadowmere Street, a stretch that runs about a third of a mile and passes by JFK Stadium near Parkview High School. Detour signs advising drivers to connect to Campbell Avenue via Ildereen Street or Catalpa Street will be posted.

The portion of Grant Avenue is expected to reopen in mid-August.

The Grant Avenue Parkway project is a plan to create an off-street pedestrian and bicycle pathway along Grant Avenue from Sunshine Street to College Street in downtown Springfield. For more information on the project, and to receive construction updates, visit GrantAvenueParkway.com/construction.
