Blood from local donors is being sent to Uvalde, Texas, to help assist victims of Tuesday’s deadly shooting at Robb Elementary School.
As part of its role as a partner in the Blood Emergency Readiness Corps, Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is sending blood to the Texas community to help treat victims and replenish supplies in the area. Nineteen elementary school children and two teachers were slain by an 18-year-old who fired upon them in a single classroom.
“We are deeply saddened by the horrific events that unfolded on Tuesday at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas,” Anthony Roberts, the center’s executive director, said in a news release. “In addition to our thoughts, prayers, and condolences, CBCO is sending blood products to assist the victims of this senseless tragedy. CBCO was able to respond quickly to the region's call for help through our partnership with Blood Emergency Readiness Corps and the support of our valued blood donors here in the Ozarks.”
Community Blood Center of the Ozarks is on-call this week with the nationwide Blood Emergency Readiness Corps, a partnership that is built from a network of independent blood centers. Because blood products were needed in Texas, the center is asking for donations from area residents to replenish supplies.
