Positive COVID-19 cases have increased by 10 percent in the past week, according to the Springfield-Greene County Health Department. That led the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to recently up the COVID impact level to medium in the area.
An average of 87 positive tests have been reported per day over the past week, according to the health department. As of Thursday, there were 56 people hospitalized in the county with positive tests, including four who were receiving critical care.
With Greene County at a medium impact level, the CDC recommends vaccinations and boosters, wearing a mask indoors if you are going to be near someone at high risk for severe illness and getting tested if you have been exposed to COVID or are experiencing symptoms of it. The health department further recommends that Fourth of July gatherings be held outdoors to reduce the spread of the virus.
