Moxie Cinema, our local nonprofit movie theater, at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 17 will be showing a locally made movie about Springfield jeweler Manoli Savvenas.
Savvenas, now 81, is the most unlikely pro-wrestler specimen. He is 5 foot 4 and has never weighed more than 170 pounds.
I wrote about Savvenas in December. A couple of you might have read it; it was two months before the official launch of the Hauxeda.
Savvenas was born in Greece and wrestled as “Mike Pappas: The Flying Greek.” He once tag-teamed with Andre The Giant, who was 7-foot-4 and 520 pounds.
Tickets are $9 and $6 for Moxie members.
Half of the proceeds will be donated to the filmmakers.
The film was made by Flintlock Syndicate Productions and directed and produced by Jason Brasier. Carbon Trace Productions is co-producer.
