Thousands of book shoppers are expected to meander through the E-Plex this week at the fall Friends of the Library book sale, a massive fair that runs Wednesday through Sunday.
The twice-a-year event happens every spring and autumn, with the latest edition kicking off Tuesday night, Sept. 13, for a special “preview” event from 5-8.
That first night costs $5 to get in (Friends of the Library members can get in free), but Wednesday through Sunday is free to the public.
In addition to truckloads of books, the sale includes audiobooks, movies, CDs, vinyl records, VHS and cassette tapes. Most items are $1 or less, although a category of books the organizers call “Better Books” are $2 and up.
Popular authors such as Stephen King, Agatha Christie and C.J. Box sell out early, organizers say, as do the Better Books. If shoppers wait until the end of the week, however, they can take advantage of even better deals.
- Saturday is Half Price Day
- Sunday is “Bag Day,” in which everything you can stuff into a sack (provided by the organizers) is $1 or $5 on the Better Books side
The event is inside the E-Plex building at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds, 3001 N. Grant Ave. (Google Maps directions here).
