Text from our SGF Sunday email newsletter, written by Managing Editor Brittany Meiling
Before I became an editor, I had no idea Planning and Zoning decisions were so emotional. Now that we've got reporters in the room — or in the, um, tent — where these issues are discussed, I understand why the stakes are so high.
News this week was once again dominated by the question: to develop or not?
- Our most-read article of the week came from Steve Pokin, who trekked out after a long workday to cover an evening meeting under a wet tent. There, he found armed security guards, a dude wearing a bulletproof vest, and a lively discussion about the future of National and Sunshine. Then the power went out. ICYMI, check out Pokin's story.
- Our latest in-depth is also about, you guessed it, planning and zoning. But this one might affect a bigger chunk of Springfield — and it's on the ballot. Get ready for the election by reading Rance Burger's story: What you need to know about the debated Galloway Village ballot issue.
Don't miss our regular columns this week, including a fresh Steve Pokin piece that is equal parts endearing and self-deprecating. He tells a tale of a kid he used to tutor, and an embarrassing accident that left him with the school nurse.
We'll be back on Monday with a full edition of SGF A.M.
