Text from our SGF Sunday email newsletter, written by Managing Editor Brittany Meiling

I don't know if normal folks know this, but to journalists, elections are electric. A huge reason a lot of us got into this business was to get thoughtful, active citizens involved — to put them in the driver's seat for matters that involve their towns, lives and wallets.

Every newsroom I've worked for treats election day like the Super Bowl. It's a late night full of pizza, high energy, and, back in the old days, liquor. (Pretty sure my boss isn't into the liquor part).

I was thrilled to see the most popular story last week was our Springfield MO Voting Guide! This is a one-stop-shop for everything you should know before heading to the polls Tuesday. We don't tell you how to vote, but we make it easy for you to decide your own position. Bookmark it and revisit it later if you need reminders on ballot items or candidates.

A big chunk of our team plans to work election night next week, and you can follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and, of course, our homepage.

Catch up on our previous election coverage over the weekend, including our latest in-depth on the marijuana ballot issue and a deep dive into the Galloway Village debate. We've temporarily deactivated our paywall on all election stories, so come one, come all!

I'm proud of all the work our team has done this season to keep Springfield residents informed. Are you proud, too? Our team got picked for a grant program that matches, dollar for dollar, all donations made this month and next. Want to donate and make your dollar count double? Click here to read more about it.
