Free holiday fun for the whole family is coming Dec. 10 when the Springfield Symphony Orchestra presents its annual Holiday Matinee.

The show starts at 2:30 p.m. at the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and seating will begin at 2 p.m.

“The SSO Holiday Concert is one of my favorite ways to get into the Christmas mood,” said Kyle Wiley Pickett, Springfield Symphony Orchestra music director and conductor. “As I always say, this is the only time of year when all of us — from age 5 to 95 — listen to the same music. I especially love our carol singing, when the audience gets to join with the orchestra. It always leaves me feeling so happy.”

Pickett will lead the orchestra in the show, which will feature performances of holiday classics like “Sleigh Ride” and some sing-alongs.

The concert is free, but tickets are required for entry. Assigned seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Ticket requests can be made through Dec. 7 by filling out the form found at the Springfield Symphony Orchestra website. Accommodations can be made for patrons with disabilities requiring to be seated on the main orchestra level or in ADA seating.
