Let's talk about food and books, my two favorite subjects.

First up, I was beyond impressed by this story from intern Kate Hall, who filed an in-depth look at a controversial new rule affecting libraries. It's part of a wave of efforts to keep racy books out of the hands of students. Find out why it matters (and how to weigh in before the rule becomes permanent) in Hall's story.

In other news, locals recently lined up to try out new food on Commercial Street, Jack McGee reports in our most-read story of the week. The Blue Heron is a Marshfield farm that Farmers Market of the Ozarks loyalists have come to know well. Owners James and Jennie Boosey branched out to start a bakery and serve up hot, fresh coffee.

James Boosey is originally from Kent, England. He’s one of the many foreign-born Springfieldians who have settled in the Ozarks to call the 417 home.

This week, we learned how many were in our midst on campus. Columnist Steve Pokin ran the office pool on how many different countries are represented at Missouri State this semester, so make your guess before you read about international flag displays on campus.

All this and more are in the story list below! We’ll see you Monday.
