Springfield Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
According to a news release, officers responded to the Cherry Creek Apartments at 2107 E. Cherry St. following a 911 caller stating someone had been shot.
When officers arrived, they located a man lying in the driveway who had suffered a gunshot wound. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Spencer Anderson, 34, of Springfield, and his next of kin have been notified.
A suspect has not been identified at this time, the release said.
This incident is Springfield’s second homicide in 2022.
