Springfield resident Steven Nelson, 54, died from injuries sustained in a single vehicle crash on April 15, according to a news release from the Springfield Police Department.
At 6:50 a.m. on that Sunday, Nelson was driving a blue 2005 Suzuki Vitara southbound at the intersection of National Avenue and Loren Street. The SUV left the roadway to the right and hit a tree, a wooden display box and concrete bench before eventually turning over and coming to rest against the driver's side, according to the new release.
Nelson was transported to the hospital and was pronounced dead five days later on April 20.
The circumstances from the Springfield Police Department’s 12th motor vehicle crash investigation of 2023 remain under review.
