If you love art, or maybe you just want to take advantage of a beautiful day, it’s Artsfest Saturday on Historic Downtown Walnut Street. There are four — that’s right, four — stages for live music, plus “art, art and more art” as Jeff Kessinger describes. Don’t forget the kids zone. There is something for the art lover in all of us at Artsfest today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sunday.
Maybe you’re staying close to home today. Perhaps you just adopted a pet from our friends at Rescue One Springfield and you’re helping your new dog or cat get acclimated to your house. Why not brush up on your board game skills? Whether it’s Clue, Settlers of Catan or Ticket to Ride, you’ll want to be sharp for the opening of Village Meeple Board Game Café on Battlefield Road on June 17. Kathleen O’Dell introduces us to the Hamlets, the people behind what should be a first-of-its-kind experience for Springfield.
Even if you’re staying home, you can still meet some new people. University of Missouri Extension community engagement specialist David Burton turned our eyes to the turquoise table movement. Get a table, have a seat, and invite others to join. Simple enough, right?
The Springfield Cardinals are at home for a twin bill tonight starting at 5:05 p.m. against the Arkansas Travelers. The Spring Birds are under new ownership and Chandler Redmond is hitting baseballs into orbit. The Cardinals play the Seattle Mariners’ Double-A team again Sunday afternoon. These are essential games in the Texas League North, and no one is covering Springfield Cardinals baseball like Lyndal Scranton.
