A Springfield man reportedly fell from the outside of a minivan and died in northwest Springfield early in the morning on July 14, according to the Springfield Police Department.

Following a dispute, 46-year-old Gary Barlow of Springfield reportedly clung to a dark-colored minivan as it was traveling northbound on Kansas Expressway. The van reportedly turned eastbound onto Interstate 44, where Barlow fell onto the traffic ramp, according to police.

Officers responded at 12:23 a.m., and Barlow was transported to a Springfield hospital and later died.

Barlow's death is under investigation, and neither the minivan nor its driver have been located.

Gary Barlow was born in Richmond, Virginia, and previously lived in North Carolina, according to Virginia Barlow, his daughter. At the time of his death, Gary Barlow was experiencing homelessness, Virginia Barlow said.
