Managers of a Republic-based commercial development have announced its first restaurant tenant. The Roost Bar and Grill will be the center's first eatery planned to open in Magers Management’s Iron Grain District.

Owned by Mike Flavin and Gene Lafaro, the Roost will have a 4,700-square-foot indoor restaurant, as well as an additional 2,700 square feet of patio space, according to a press release from Magers Management.

Planned for a location at State Highway MM and Sawyer Road north of Republic neighboring the Amazon distribution center, the Iron Grain District is a mixed-use development. Plans call for shopping, dining and entertainment within walking distance from a contemporary apartment complex featuring a dog park, clubhouse, pool and walking trails.

The development is hoped to open in spring of 2024, according to the press release. About 24,000 square feet remains available in the Iron Grain District’s two shopping center buildings.

Magers has worked with the Roost before — the restaurant’s location at Republic and Cox roads in Springfield is in the company’s Magers Crossing development.
