Jordan L. Paul will become Springfield's new city attorney Jan. 2.
Springfield City Manager Jason Gage made the announcement Oct. 31.
Paul is a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law and has been working as the city attorney for Neosho and as the assistant city attorney for Joplin.
He will replace Rhonda Lewsader, who has been the Springfield city attorney since 2018. She is retiring.
Paul was in private civil practice in Joplin prior to joining municipal governments.
“We are very excited to announce the hiring of Jordan,” Gage said in a press release. “He is from southwest Missouri, is very bright and has solid municipal law experience.”
The city attorney assists the City Council, city management and all city departments with matters of municipal law and represents the city in all legal matters. The city's law department employs 20 people.
Paul's annual salary will be $200,000.
