The time has finally come. Beaver nuggets for all who have been waiting.

The long-awaited Buc-ee's Springfield store will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony Dec. 11, according to a company press release.

Doors will open at 6 a.m. on Dec. 11, with a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m., according to the release.

The 53,000-square-foot convenience store, which will be the first Missouri location for the Texas-based chain, is located at 3284 N. Beaver Road — formerly Mulroy Road — off of Interstate 44 in northeast Springfield. It will feature 120 fuel pumps, an enormous selection of drinks and snacks, groceries, souvenirs and other goods for sale.

Buc-ee’s has a total of $9.2 million in tax incentives from the city of Springfield. In late 2022, the Springfield Planning and Zoning Commission voted in favor of renaming a portion of the road Buc-ee's was built on to Beaver Road, a nod to the chain's mascot. The Buc-ee’s company expects to spend $56 million to build its store and gas pumps in Springfield.

Springfield City Utilities footed the $250,000 bill for part of the cost of running utilities under I-44 to the mega gas station and convenience store. Buc-ee’s will be on all five of CU’s services.

State and local leaders attending the ribbon-cutting ceremony will include Springfield Mayor Ken McClure, Springfield City Councilman Abe McGull and more.
