Springfield police are investigating two non-fatal shootings that happened within 12 hours of each other.

Officers responded to reports of a robbery in the parking lot of the Battlefield Mall at 4:51 p.m. Sunday. According to a police spokesperson, the suspects demanded items from the victims. As the victims tried to flee in their vehicle, shots were fired.

When officers arrived to the mall, the suspects fled on foot, but two were caught and arrested by officers. The two juvenile suspects were transported to the Greene County Juvenile Office. No one was injured in this incident.

In a separate incident at 3:10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 4, officers also responded to the Fast n' Friendly at the corner of Main Avenue and Chestnut Expressway to a report of a man who had been shot in the parking lot. Officers located the victim, who was then transported to a Springfield hospital with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made in this incident.
