A Republic man has been arrested in connection with a New Year’s shooting incident west of Springfield.

Greene County sheriff's deputies arrested Timothy J. Smith, 37. According to the sheriff's office, Smith will be charged with unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with an incident that resulted in four people being shot. He is being held at the Greene County Jail on $30,000 bond, according to a press release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. 

The shooting happened in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day at The Barnhouse, located at 5484 W. Sunshine St., at the corner of Sunshine and James River Freeway.

Responding at 2:45 a.m. Jan. 1, deputies found two people with apparent gunshot wounds, according to the sheriff’s office. Two more shooting victims were located at a Springfield hospital.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with knowledge of the incident is asked to call the department at 417-829-6230.
