Country music legend Willie Nelson will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at the Ozarks Amphitheater in Camdenton.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 17. Call (573) 346-0000 for more information. Camdenton is 75 miles from Springfield.

Nelson, 90, was born in Texas and lived in Springfield in the 1950s.

Nelson moved to the Ozarks but was unsuccessful in his attempt to appear on the Ozark Jubilee national television show, which was broadcast live from Springfield from 1954-1960. The show was also on the radio.

Back then, Nelson worked at Aunt Martha's Pancake House, which was on Cherokee Street and closed in 2015. The former Jubilee Theater was on North Jefferson Avenue. Nelson did odd jobs at Aunt Martha's, including washing dishes.

During this period, Nelson might have lived in a caboose near Rogersville, according to a 2017 Answer Man column that appeared in the Springfield News-Leader.
