Missouri is the best state to start a business, new research based on federal government data shows.

The Show-Me State took the top ranking in research conducted by Eton Venture Services, which analyzed data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, according to a press release. The research compared the number of business establishment deaths in the state in June against the population.

Missouri came in first, with just less than 140 establishment deaths per 100,000 people, according to the release. Helping its ranking, the Show-Me State has a low corporate tax rate of 4% and the state offers a wide variety of tax incentives.

Arkansas took second place with just more than 162 establishment deaths, according to the release. Washington was deemed by the researchers the worst state to start a business, with more than 540 establishment deaths per 100,000 people.
