An iconic vehicle celebrating a well-known hot dog brand will make several stops in Springfield over the weekend.

Officials with Oscar Mayer announced several stops for its Wienermobile. At each of the stops, spokespeople known as “Hotdoggers” will offer activities and hand out Wiener Whistles while supplies last.

Hotdoggers “Angus” Ann Kerr and “Jumbo Dog” Jimmy Creamer will make the following stops:

  • 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Walmart Supercenter, 3520 W. Sunshine St.
  • 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at Walmart Supercenter, 2021 E. Independence St.
  • 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Pat Jones YMCA, 1901 E. Republic Road. Part of Seuss Science Day organized by Ozarks Public Television, the Wienermobile will be part of a an interactive display of tow trucks, fire trucks and other vehicles.
  • Noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Relics Antique Mall and Event Center, 2015 W. Battlefield Road. The Wienermobile will be part of the event center’s Amazing Garage Sale.

Oscar Mayer owns six Wienermobiles that tour the country raising awareness of the Oscar Mayer brand of hot dogs. The company is part of The Kraft Heinz Company.

Equipped with a 6.0 V8 engine, this recreational vehicle features a custom hot dog-shaped dashboard, mustard and ketchup seats and a horn that sounds the Oscar Mayer jingle. It measures 27-by-8-by-11 feet (or 60-by-18-24 hot dogs).

The original Wienermobile was built in 1936 for advertising the brand in Chicago. It has seen several variations over the years since — its new look was introduced in 2021. Hotdoggers are part of a yearlong tour, and get special training to drive the RV.  The experience prepares them for a career in public relations, marketing and social media.
