Don't worry, Springfield. You get to keep your Macy's.

The retail store at the Battlefield Mall, located at 2825 S. Glenstone Ave., Ste. 100, will not close amidst a plan to shutter 150 Macy's stores across the United States announced in late February, said an unnamed company spokesperson in an emailed statement.

“We look forward to continuing to serve our customers at Macy’s Battlefield Mall,” the spokesperson wrote in the email.

The national retailer announced plans to close 150 underproductive Macy's locations across the country over the next three years, according to a company press release. The new strategy, called “A Bold New Chapter,” aims to accelerate the company's growth into luxury retail by opening 15 Bloomingdale stores and 30 Bluemercury stores, according to the release.

“Our new strategy is designed to return Macy’s, Inc. to profitable growth and enhance the customer experience,” the spokesperson wrote in the email. The store closures “allows us to focus our investments and resources on Macy’s go-forward locations including full line, furniture and current off-mall locations and Bloomie’s, Bloomingdale’s The Outlet and Bluemercury stores.”

Macy's has additional Missouri locations in the St. Louis and Kansas City areas.
