Jerry Walker, 84, from Springfield, has died from injuries sustained in a crash on March 5.

At 8:02 that morning, officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to a crash near the intersection of National Avenue and Guinevere involving a sport utility vehicle and a pedal-assist electric bike.

John Teters, 45, from Springfield, drove a white 2020 Ford EcoSport westbound on Guinevere at National as Walker crossed National Avenue east toward Guinevere on his bike. Teters reportedly hit Walker in the intersection.

Walker was transported to a Springfield hospital, where he died on March 11. This is Springfield’s fourth fatal vehicle crash in 2024.

The circumstances of the crash are still under investigation, according to Springfield police.
