Frank Ganis and Arisha Caldwell are being held in the Greene County Jail without bond, charged with first-degree kidnapping after allegedly taking their daughter, who is in the care of the state of Missouri, from a supervised visit at Wonders of Wildlife the morning of April 9.
Two-year-old Arukia Ganis was located safely later in the day and Ganis and Caldwell were taken into custody in Polk County. The case started as an Endangered Missing Person Alert and was later upgraded to a statewide Amber Alert.
Ganis, 36, is facing several 2022 and 2023 felony charges in Stone County. They include deviate sexual assault of a child under 15, kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child, creating a substantial risk and unlawful use of a weapon.
The 33-year-old Caldwell, meanwhile, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child creating a substantial risk, as well as statutory sodomy or attempted statutory sodomy with a person less than 14 years old in Stone County in 2022. Her jury trial was scheduled to begin April 10.
