A 35-year-old Springfield man died in a crash in southeast Springfield Friday afternoon.

According to a news release from the Springfield Police Department, Andrew Hendrix was driving a black Chevrolet Corvette northbound on Crenshaw Road, approaching Ridgecrest Street around 12:30 p.m. April 12, when his vehicle went off the east side of the road, hit a tree and caught fire.

A piece of debris hit a southbound 2001 Gray Buick.

Hendrix died at the scene.

The circumstances of the crash are under ongoing investigation.

This was Springfield’s sixth fatal motor vehicle crash in 2024.
