A nonprofit group that provides grief support services has hired a new executive director.

Mark Miller was announced April 16 as the Lost & Found Grief Center’s new leader. He will begin his role on June 3 and will replace Mike Woody, who retired last year.

Currently the chief media relations officer for Ozarks Technical Community College, Miller has been with the college since 2014. He also worked at Drury University in public relations, and was a news and sports anchor for KOLR-TV.

Lost and Found helps children and adults deal with struggles caused by the death of a loved one. It offers support through group sessions, counseling and awareness events.

Miller is familiar with these services: He and his wife, Kelly, lost their son Luke in 2019 after a seizure, and said the counseling they received from the center helped them deal with the tragedy.

“I am a living example of the healing power of grief counseling,” Miller said in a press release. “After losing a child, you cannot imagine a future without them, but Lost & Found helped my family find a way forward. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this compassionate and caring staff.”

Josh Kitchin, chairman of the center’s board of directors, said Miller’s experience with the center and skills as a communicator make him an outstanding pick.

“Mark’s experience with Lost & Found combined with his leadership style made him an excellent fit for the executive director position,” Kitchin said. “Mark’s communication skills and community connections will help drive awareness of our organization to those who can benefit from our services.”
