Eighty Greene County businesses will receive a combined $1.14 million in COVID-19-related economic recovery funds.

The Greene County Commission voted to distribute money funneled to Greene County through the congressional American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) on Oct. 26. The businesses receiving money — ranging in amounts from $800 to $49,999.99 — had to apply for funding through a special ARPA committee.

Restaurants, hotels, technology companies, entertainment venues and other businesses dot the list of ARPA funding recipients.

In 2022, the Greene County Commission approved about $3.66 million in ARPA grants to 314 Greene County small businesses in a separate round of funding.

The county government used federal guidelines to determine award eligibility. The Greene County Commission set up an online application process where businesses had to demonstrate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and provide supporting documentation. A special committee reviews the applications and submits them to the commission with recommendations of approval or denial.

Greene County received a total of $56.9 million in ARPA funds.

All Greene County ARPA funds must be allocated by Dec. 31, 2024. All projects funded by the County must be completed by Dec. 31, 2026.
