Mercy Hospitals Springfield has a new president. David Argueta, the current chief administrative officer at Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City, is joining the Springfield leadership team as the new president of Springfield hospitals. He takes the position most recently held by Brent Hubbard, who is leaving Springfield for another position in Oklahoma.

John Mohart, president of Mercy Communities, said in a news release that Argueta is an outstanding leader with 17 years of experience in the health care industry.

“He has a servant heart, and he will bring his expertise in hospital operations, board relations and co-worker development to the Springfield community,” Mohart said.

Argueta, his wife, Christen, and their two daughters will move to Springfield in the near future, according to the release.

“Springfield has a long history with the Sisters of Mercy and it’s always been a vital and pivotal community to our ministry,” Argueta said in the release. “Springfield has been at the epicenter of many of Mercy’s important innovations through the years and I am eager to continue that tradition. I am honored to be given the opportunity to serve this community.”

Argueta and Craig McCoy, president of Mercy Springfield Communities, will report to Mohart. Mercy has been a presence in the Springfield area for over 130 years. In the 2021 fiscal year, the region’s Mercy hospital team provided outpatient care for about 482,000 visitors, emergency room care for over 67,000 and helped deliver 2,816 babies.
