Mercy Springfield Communities has appointed Dr. Sadaf Sohrab to chief medical officer, according to an April 12 company press release.

Sohrab has held numerous leadership roles in her 15-year tenure with Mercy, according to the release. She was most recently the regional chair of the cardiovascular service line.

Dr. Sohrab steps into the new role April 12 and will help provide guidance to all of Mercy's service lines and physicians, according to the release.

“I'm deeply honored to step into this role to serve the community I love,” Sohrab wrote in the press release. “I look forward to collaborating with providers, nurses and our hospital co-workers who inspire me daily. With healthcare evolving at a rapid pace, now is the moment to steer strategy toward impactful change.”

Sohrab's promotion comes a week after Mercy announced two leadership changes that will help the hospital system grow in the southwest Missouri region. The previous president of Mercy Springfield Communities, David Argueta, was promoted to regional president of Mercy Southwest Missouri Communities. John Myers stepped into Argueta's previous role of community president.

“I knew right away Dr. Sohrab was an incredible leader,” Argueta wrote in the release. “She’s a trusted leader in our physician community, and her experience working in the inpatient and outpatient setting gives her a unique understanding” of physician's needs.

Myers wrote in the release that Sohrab's promotion is part of a company-wide movement of “unwavering dedication to improvement.”

“Sohrab leads with passion and a commitment to excellence,” Myers wrote in the release. “After working together and watching her excel as a leader for our cardiovascular team, I can’t wait to see how she will positively impact Mercy Springfield Communities as our new chief medical officer.”
