Whataburger announced its Ozark location will open its drive-thru to the public on Jan. 3.

The opening date comes less than a month after the debut of Republic’s Whataburger.

It will also follow a similar phased opening as the Republic franchise, by only offering its menu via drive-thru at first, then slowly easing into online ordering, curbside and delivery and dining room access.

The restaurant is located at 1851 W. Marler Lane in Ozark and will open at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, to kickstart its 24/7 operations.

Springfield’s location won’t be far behind, according to Whataburger spokesperson Ana Flores. While the opening date for 3880 W. Sunshine St. in Springfield hasn’t been announced yet, they anticipate it opening in the coming weeks, following the same phased opening pattern as its neighbors in Republic and Ozark.

“Hungry Missourians can continue to curb their Whataburger cravings as the brand brings its signature customized burgers and extensive menu of fresh, bold flavors with a side of extraordinary hospitality to two new area locations,” Flores said in a statement to the Citizen.

Both the Ozark and Sunshine Street location in Springfield will employ a total of 200 people.

Additionally, Whataburger plans to open two more locations in Springfield in 2023: one at 2355 N. Glenstone Ave. and one at 401 N. Eastgate Ave.

“We’re thrilled to continue to bring Whataburger’s fresh ingredients and original recipes to the Springfield community,” said Wendingoudi Evariste Ouedraogo, Whataburger’s area coach, in a press release. “We look forward to serving our new friends and neighbors in the area soon.”
