A Springfield man died from injuries sustained after a vehicle backed out of a parking space and ran over him, according to a Springfield Police Department release.

Rogersville's Scott Hall, 67, was backing out of a parking space Dec. 12 at Dive Bar & Lounge, located at 2826 E. Division St., when he hit Jerry Wickware, 86, from Springfield, according to Springfield police. Wickware was trapped under Hall's 2013 Ford Escape.

Springfield firefighters got Wickware out from under the vehicle and transported him to a Springfield hospital, according to the release. On Dec. 14, Wickware died from injuries sustained in the accident, according to the release.

The circumstances of the accident are still under investigation. This marks Springfield's 28th motor vehicle crash in 2023, according to the release.
