John Michael Bradley, 64, of Billings, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for sexually assaulting a child while he was deployed on active duty in Honduras as a member of the United States Army Reserves.
Bradley was charged in a three-count indictment returned under seal in Springfield on Dec. 19. That indictment was unsealed and made public on Dec. 21 upon Bradley’s arrest and initial court appearance. He’s currently being held without bond in the Greene County Jail.
The federal indictment charges Bradley with one count of illegal sexual activity with a minor under the age of 12, which occurred from Feb. 8, 2005, to Oct. 16, 2006, at Soto Cano Air Force Base — Joint Task Force Bravo, Comayagua, Honduras. Bradley was a member of the Army Reserves, deployed in active duty at the time of the alleged offense. He was released from active duty on Oct. 26, 2006.
Bradley is also charged with one count of crossing state lines to engage in illegal sexual activity with the child and one count of traveling to Honduras and engaging in illegal sexual conduct with the child, all of which occurred from Dec. 29, 2006 to May 26, 2008.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Ami Harshad Miller is prosecuting the case. It was investigated by Homeland Security Investigation, the Southwest Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force and the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child exploitation and abuse.
