A man is dead and the person suspected of shooting him is in jail.

Greene County sheriff's deputies were called to the 4500 block of South Farm Road 223 sometime overnight July 18-19. They reportedly found Laterrian Jarman, 20, lying in the front yard of a house located close to where Highway 125 and U.S. Highway 60 intersect in Rogersville.

According to a statement from the Greene County Sheriff's Office, Jarman was taken to a hospital in Springfield and died of his injuries. Deputies did not disclose the number of times Jarman was shot, or what type of firearm he was shot with.

A person suspected of shooting Jarman to death is in the custody of law enforcement agents, with charges expected to come from the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney's Office at a later time.

Records show Jarman is from Springfield and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 2019. He played football and basketball.
