Frankie Wren, 55, from Reeds Spring, died April 7 from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash in Springfield on April 3.

The Springfield Police Department was not informed about the crash until April 8. Officers were not called to the scene and did not initially investigate it.

“At the time of the crash, both drivers agreed to exchange information as there were no evident injuries,” a press release said.

A preliminary investigation by the Traffic Unit found that Justin Harris, 40, from Republic, was southbound on Campbell Avenue, just south of Battlefield Road, in a 2011 Dodge Caravan. He rear-ended a 2007 Chevrolet HHR, driven by 69-year-old Robert Wren, from Reeds Spring. Frankie Wren was a passenger in the Chevrolet.

Robert Wren drove Frankie home on April 3, but she sought medical care the next day at an urgent care clinic. She was life-flighted to a Springfield-area hospital where she died.

The circumstances of the crash are now part of an ongoing investigation. This is Springfield’s fifth fatal motor vehicle crash in 2024.
