A student at Glendale High School was taken into custody Thursday after bringing a loaded gun to school.

Administrators at the school received a tip about the student, and responded immediately, according to a press release from the district. School police officers and administrators removed the student from a classroom at about 2:30 p.m. and discovered a small, loaded handgun in his possession.

The student was cooperative, according to the release, and no one was injured. The student was turned over to police.

The school district in the release thanked the individual who provided the tip, because it led to a swift resolution. The district also asked both students and parents to report any safety issues to the principal, another staff member or school police. The district also offers an anonymous tip line: 417-319-2901.
