An infant stopped breathing while at an in-home day care on Tuesday, April 9, and was taken to the hospital and died, according to a press release from the Greene County Sheriff's office.

Deputies responded to a day care in the 1800 block of N. Pearson Drive, which is north of Highway YY (also known as Division Street) and east of Highway 65, outside city limits.

When deputies arrived, according to the press release, CPR was in progress and the infant was unresponsive.

Deputies took over CPR and assisted with CPR while the infant was transported to the hospital, where she passed away, according to the press release.

Detectives went to the address to investigate. An autopsy will be done to try to determine the cause of death, according to the press release.

More information will be released as the investigation continues.
