The Springfield Police Department announced the death of a man who sustained a gunshot wound on June 4.
Adrian Gutierrez, 24, of Sun Valley, California, was shot in a parking lot 1336 W. Sunshine Street at 3:47 a.m. on Sunday, June 4, according to police. The address is home to the Puff The Magic Dragon head shop, located near the intersection of Sunshine Street and Fort Avenue.
Gutierrez was transported to a Springfield hospital and died on June 8.
Two juvenile suspects were identified and arrested on June 8, and second degree murder charges have been presented to the Greene County Juvenile Office for review, according to police.
Detectives believe several people were present at the shop at the time Gutierrez was shot. This marks Springfield’s seventh homicide investigation of 2023.
