A Greene County man was shot and killed in a road rage incident Aug. 30.

According to the Springfield Police Department, the man was shot on the westbound off-ramp from Interstate 44 onto Kansas Expressway.

Michael D. Miller, 39 of Walnut Grove, was transported to a Springfield hospital after police responded to the incident at 6:36 p.m. Miller later died from his gunshot wounds.

The alleged shooter remained at the scene, was identified and was interviewed by Springfield homicide detectives, but was ultimately not arrested. The shooter has not been named publicly by police.

Following an investigation, the Greene County Prosecutor Attorney’s Office will determine whether or not to file criminal charges in what is Springfield’s 13th homicide investigation of 2023.
