Todd A. Tennison, 51, of Springfield, died Sunday, Oct. 1, from injuries he suffered in an accident Sept. 29.

He was sitting on the ground off the roadway when he was hit by a turning truck and trailer.

Springfield police responded to 2825 N. Kansas Expressway, near the Walmart Supercenter, after a white tractor-trailer pulling a 52-foot box trailer struck Tennison.

The tractor-trailer was eastbound on an access road — leaving a parking lot — and was making a right turn to go south on Kansas Expressway, according to police. As the truck turned, the trailer left the roadway and hit Tennison.

The driver of the tractor-trailer left the scene and has not been located.

The circumstances of the accident are under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Springfield police at (417) 864-1810.

This is Springfield’s 21st fatal motor vehicle accident in 2023.
