A 46-year-old motorcyclist from Monett died Friday, March 15 from injuries received when his motorcycle was struck by a Jeep Wrangler two miles west of Springfield.

The driver of the motorcycle, James W. King, was pronounced dead at Mercy hospital in Springfield.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:44 p.m. when King's 2014 Kawasaki Ninja 300 struck the driver's side of a 2020 Jeep Wrangler driven by 31-year-old Kelsey Marler of Springfield.

According to the crash report, both vehicles were traveling southbound on Missouri Highway 413.

This is Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D’s 13th fatality in 2024.
