A pedestrian was killed Tuesday evening after getting struck by a car.

The crash occurred Nov. 14 at Grand and Newton streets, according to a report from the Springfield Police Department. Officers responded at 5:54 p.m. 

Karyn Williamson, 60, of Springfield, was struck by a black Ford Fusion driven westbound on Grand by Leonard Gato, 72, of Springfield, according to the report. Williamson was taken to a Springfield hospital, where she died of her injuries. 

Police arrested Gato on suspicion of impairment, according to the report. The investigation into Williamson's death is open.

The crash marks the city’s 25th motor vehicle fatality for the year, according to the Springfield Police Department.
