A Walnut Grove man died six days after he was involved in a motorcycle accident in northern Springfield. Police are asking anyone who might have witnessed the accident he was involved in to come forward with information.

Springfield police confirmed the death of Aaron Long, 37. Long was involved in an accident at 2003 East Kearney Street near the Walmart Supercenter at the intersection of Kearney and Glenstone Avenue at 12:39 a.m. March 2.

Long was reportedly riding westbound on Kearney toward the intersection “at a high rate of speed,” on a 2006 Honda motorcycle. A 2005 Nissan Sentra entered the street from a service road at the Walmart store, and the motorcycle struck the car.

Police say Long died on March 8.

Police officers are investigating the events surrounding the crash, and are asking anyone who might have any information to contact the Springfield Police Department at (417) 864-1810.

The driver of the Nissan was reportedly unhurt.

According to Long's obituary, he died at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. His arrangements are under the care of Walnut Lawn Funeral Home and DeGraffenreid-Wood Crematory in Springfield.
