Ronny Sawyers, 25, from Springfield, died in a crash involving a motorcycle and car on Sept. 13.
The crash happened in the intersection of Glenstone Avenue and Grand Street. It’s Springfield’s 19th fatal motor vehicle crash in 2023.
Officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to the crash at 4:48 p.m. Savannah Grotjan, 23, from Springfield, was driving a 1997 Toyota Avalon northbound on Glenstone. As Grotjan was making a left turn to go west on Grand, Sawyers — riding a 2002 Honda Shadow — hit the passenger side of Grotjan’s car.
Sawyer was transported to a local hospital where he later died. His family has been identified.
The circumstances of the crash are under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Springfield Pollice Department at (417) 864-1810.
