Springfield Police have arrested Keyshawn McElroy, the suspect in a Jan. 28 shooting near Glendale High School. He was booked into the Greene County Jail for 1st Degree Assault and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
McElroy and his car were located Feb. 1 by Republic Police Department officers at 332 W. Grace in Republic. On Feb. 2, the case was presented to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office for review and consideration of filing criminal charges.
Springfield Police were dispatched at 6:48 p.m. Jan. 28 after a 911 caller reported hearing shots in the area of the 2500 block of South Linden. Evidence of a shooting was found at the intersection of Linden and Sunset. While checking the area, officers found a vehicle in the parking lot of Glendale High School that had been struck multiple times by gunfire.
“While officers were processing the scene, a male arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound,” an SPD press release said. “During an interview with the male, he stated he was shot at the above location but would not give any further details regarding the incident.”
SPD’s Violent Crime Unit, with assistance from the Missouri Highway Patrol and Republic Police Department, obtained a search warrant for the residence in Republic. McElroy left the residence and was arrested prior to the search warrant being served.
