Springfield police responded to a report of shots fired at 11:23 p.m. on Thursday, June 15.
Jason Walker, 22, of Springfield, was found with life-threatening injuries from gunshot wounds at 3417 S. Virginia Ave. in south Springfield, according to police.
Walker was transported to a Springfield hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
A suspect has not been identified in what is Springfield’s eighth homicide investigation of 2023.
