The Springfield area should see a total 5 to 9 inches of snow starting at 4 p.m. today through Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service office in Springfield.

That was the forecast as of 10 a.m. today from Justin Titus, with the National Weather Service.

He said he expected the level of snowfall to get heavy by about 6 p.m. today.

Temperatures will stay in the range of 30 to 32 degrees during the snowfall.

The high temperature for Wednesday should be 34, and on Thursday should be 32, with considerable warming on Friday, with a high of 45 expected.
